Increased usage means updates to Waste Transfer Station

(Green Bay, WI) Growing use of the Brown County Waste Transfer Station has led to several improvements for residents using the facility. To make the process of dropping off items quicker and easier, one entrance lane has been upgraded to two lanes; new signs have been installed and dumpsters have also been color-coded making it easier to identify where items should be placed.

“We’ve seen the number of vehicles and transactions at the facility increase consistently,” explained Mark Walter, Business Development Manager of Brown County Resource Recovery. “In fact, there has been a 10% increase in year-over-year use of the Waste Transfer Facility. To decrease wait times and move cars off of the main road, we added another lane inside the entrance. Vehicles will alternate getting onto the scale so residents should choose the lane with the shorter line. The color-coded dumpsters should also make it easier for residents to quickly know where to drop-off their items.”

Increased usage of the facility has also prompted changes that will encourage consolidated loads. The weight limit has been increased to 800 pounds, up 200 pounds from the previous limit. Accordingly, the minimum fee will now be $20 dollars; a five dollar increase. “The rate and weight limit were updated to encourage residents to minimize their trips and maximize their drop-off loads,” explained Walter.

The Waste Transfer Station is located at 3734 West Mason Street in Hobart. Until March 1, hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. – noon on Saturdays. For hours after March 1, peak hours and other details, visit
