The City of Milwaukee now operates a Single-Sort recycling program. Residents may now recycle more materials and sorting is even easier: all recyclables may now be mixed together in recycling carts! LEARN MORE!

Milwaukee’s curbside recycling program serves residents of single family through four-unit households and utilizes two collection methods: 95-gallon carts for about 85% of households, and 18-gallon bins for about 15% of households.

  • Aseptic containers (soy/rice milk, soup, broth, etc.)
  • Clean Pizza Boxes
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Junk mail, home & office paper
  • Newspapers, magazines & catalogs
  • Paper cartons (milk, juice, etc.)
  • Paper egg cartons,  paper towel rolls, etc.
  • Paper/container board (cereal boxes, etc.)
  • Paperback books
  • Phone Books

  • Hard cover books
  • Paper contaminated by food or grease (paper plates, paper to-go containers, etc.)
  • Tissue paper
  • Waxed paper, including frozen food boxes

  • Plastic Bottles & Jars - must have a neck (PET #1)
