There are several states that have passed electronics recycling legislation to help keep electronics out of landfills and the environment. In 2008, Wisconsin state Senator Mark Miller introduced Senate Bill 397 to require manufacturers of electronics sold in Wisconsin to assume responsibility for the collection and proper disposal of those devices. The bill passed in the Senate, but failed in the Assembly in March 2008.
